World of Wacraft Classic servers have recently been hit by a major DDoS attack, which has led to quite serious crashes in all Blizzard related infrastructure. However, the developer confirmed that he was dealing with the problems, and the perpetrator of the entire confusion was traced and arrested by the police. His identity was not disclosed at the moment. As emphasized immediately after the launch of DDoS attacks aimed at the said service, a special team of the company responsible for security spent the whole day tracking the source of the problem. The company practically from the very beginning cooperated closely with law enforcement agencies, which also showed remarkable speed and efficiency. Importantly, the victims of the mysterious person fell not only European but also American servers.

If you do not know what this type of attack is, it is a principle to use several sources available to send a large number of requests to the same server, causing paralysis. This attack had nevertheless alerted some users of Twitter, who had raised an account announcing the attack, and was then suspended. It is not known if this is the same person, but Blizzard announces that a suspect was arrested:
"Immediately after the onset of DDoS attacks against our game, Blizzard's security team worked tirelessly with local and international law enforcement agencies to track down the source of DDoS attacks. From what we understand is that in a few days, the authorities were able to successfully identify and arrest a suspect."

Unfortunately, DDoS attacks on game servers are nothing new and have affected many developers in the past. Such cases include, for example, Rainbow Six Siege, which has suffered from massive DDoS attacks since the introduction of Ember Rise. Ubisoft, however, approached the matter seriously, assuring users that in the future something like this will not happen again, in turn all perpetrators participating in the procedure will not only suffer legal consequences, but also get permanent bans directly in the game.
