Roblox is a user-generated massively multiplayer online social game platform, developed and published by Roblox Corporation for Windows PC, Mac OS, iOS, Android, Xbox One, PS4 on 2005. It’s no more an online game than a game engine, in which players can create their own games and play it with friends. Nearly all Roblox games are created by the Roblox community, with the exception of some created by Roblox official. Players can customize their virtual characters with various hats, head shapes, body shapes, clothing, and gear. Players may also create their own articles of clothing. They can also collect and trade items, especially limited edition collector items.
All of the best games are free-to-play without any major strings attached and you aren’t required to spend any real money to enjoy most of the content on Roblox.
Just like you need cash in real life to buy things and get by, most people are going to need some Robux to enjoy Roblox to the fullest. While the vast majority of Roblox can be accessed without spending any real money on Robux at all, there are some aspects of the game that you need Robux to see and other parts that are enhanced by the use of Robux.
The Builders Club
If you don’t want to spend money buying packs of Robux each time you want to spend some then you have another option too: joining The Builders Club. This is really only recommended if you intend on spending a lot of time inside Roblox and want to have a regular influx of Robux to spend on items, game passes, and game access.
All you have to do is visit The Builders Club page on the Roblox website and decide on which tier you like best. They’re broken down into four categories which each offer better and better rewards by charging you a little bit more as you increase in the tiers. All of the paid tiers above Free get rid of advertisements on the website, let you sell stuff, and unlock the trading feature. You also get a one-time R$100 signing bonus for each of the paid tiers too. They each differ in some key areas as well:
Free – This is the default tier for all new Roblox users. You don’t get any Daily Robux allowance, can only join five groups, and can’t use a lot of the more advanced features.
Classic – For $5.95 per month (or $57.95 per year) you’ll receive R$15 every single day as a Classic member.
Turbo – For $11.95 per month (or $85.95 per year) you’ll get R$35 every single day just for being a Turbo member.
Outrageous – And for $19.95 per month (or $129.95 per year) you’ll earn R$60 every day just for enrolling in The Builders Club as an Outrageous member.
How Do Robux Work?
Think of Robux as like a new type of currency. When you visit another country you’ve got to transfer your funds to the local currency, such as dollars to pounds when going from the US to the UK, and Robux are the same — except you’re swapping your dollars for Robux. It’s just a digital currency. Although, much like Monopoly money, Robux don’t have any real cash value in and of themselves.
At any time during Roblox you can visit the Buy Robux page to make a direct purchase. Spending $4.95 will grant you 400 Robux (R$) and spending $9.95 will grant you R$800. Naturally, the more you spend the better the value is. It goes all the way up to R$22,500 for $199.95.
Using Robux you can purchase limited time exclusive items, like these Sparkling Angel Wings, for your character to wear. You can also purchase Game Passes that grant in-game bonuses such as extra storage or a bigger duffel bag in the GTA-style game, Jailbreak. Then going a step even further, some games aren’t free to access like others and actually require you to spend Robux just to play the game at all, such as Welcome to Bloxburg, which costs R$25.
A lot of players put a lot of stock into how many Robux they have, sort of like a status symbol. This often leads to players feeling desperate, as if they need to find ways to get more Robux easily so that they can keep up with others. Just remember that almost everything in Roblox is free and you can have fun without ever spending money.
Avoiding Robux Scams
That being said, it’s true that Robux are what make the world of Roblox go round. And because they’re so valuable and important a lot of people will try and trick you with scams. If you ever see anything claiming to be giving out free Robux just for playing the game or if someone asks you for your information in exchange for Robux, it’s a scam and you shouldn’t trust it.
